Dear Public Service Director:
The Safe to Sleep® campaign, formerly called the Back to Sleep campaign, has helped educate millions of caregivers—parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, babysitters, childcare providers, health care providers, and others—about ways to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant deaths, such as accidental suffocation.
Nonetheless, SIDS remains a leading cause of death among infants in the United States.1 Recent research also found that the majority of unexpected deaths involve unsafe bedding, such as soft or loose blankets, stuffed toys, or crib bumpers in baby’s sleep area.2
Please consider airing this series of audio public service announcements which aim to educate parents, grandparents, and other family members on how to reduce the risk of SIDS and sleep-related infant deaths.
The messages in these PSAs are evergreen (no specified time frame for use). We encourage you to run them as often as possible, for as long as you can.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Laura Pair
Managing Director
